Ten O'Clock Tales

Elna Nilwen, host of the Tuesday 10P.M. short story program Ten O'Clock Tales, has been passionate about reading aloud since she was a child.

There is something so comforting and soothing about the sound of the human voice as it weaves a tale, something so lovely about laying a- bed and knowing that someone out there is reaching out across the airwaves to take you on an adventure, or unravel a mystery, or provide some soothing distraction to the mind's rush of cares and concerns that make up the residue of a busy day.

"I don't know about you, but for me,"Elna says, "the sound of the human voice simply talking is much more relaxing at sleeptime, than the complexities of composed, arranged music. There is an ease in the telling of a story that is simple and draws me in and takes me away from my own world and reveals a life in story outside my own. it is a diversion I have always cherished and wish for others to enjoy. That is why there is Ten O'clock Tales."

Elna lives by the river with her husband, Henri Bruce, who sometimes joins her in the studio and their dog, Victor, who stays at home and listens to KGGV as he lounges on the porch.
